About Me

Jacob Russell

Hey, I’m Jacob, a Pittsburgh native with a love for great coffee, meaningful connections, and storytelling—whether through photography, movies, or conversations that last way too long. I’m an early riser, a total movie buff, and a dog dad who probably spoils his pups a little too much. I believe in taking risks, following passions, and living life in a way that feels true to who you are.

My Family

Victoria, my best friend and biggest supporter, makes life better—whether we’re grabbing coffee, watching movies, or just enjoying the little moments. And, of course, our pets keep things interesting.

My dogs, Theo and Vision, bring nonstop energy and love. Theo is a ball-obsessed goofball, while Vision is a cuddle-loving social butterfly. Over at Victoria’s, her cats, Sev and Draco, add their own mix of sass and curiosity.

Between them all, life is full of love, laughter, and plenty of pet hair—but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My Home

For now, Polish Hill is my home. A small but vibrant Pittsburgh neighborhood with a mix of city energy and quiet charm. I love its character, the tight-knit feel, and the fact that I live in a four-unit Airbnb building, managing guests while enjoying my own space. It’s an unconventional setup, but that’s just how I like it—always a little different, always an adventure.

My Interests

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll usually find me with a cup of coffee in hand, watching a movie, or getting lost in a great TV show. I’m a total movie buff—I watch something almost every night and always have a show running while I edit.

My Story

I took a bit of an unconventional path to photography. I went to Robert Morris University for accounting, but deep down, I always knew the corporate world wasn’t for me. I’m a go-against-the-grain, take-the-risk type of person, and sitting behind a desk crunching numbers just didn’t feel like the right fit.

Through life, I found myself drawn more and more to photography—first as a hobby, then as a creative outlet, and eventually as a full-blown passion. I fell in love with the idea of capturing real moments that tell a story—moments that bring people back to the emotions they felt in that exact second.

So, I took the leap. I turned my passion into my career, and now I get to spend my days documenting love stories, meeting incredible couples, and creating images that feel real, timeless, and meaningful. It wasn’t the traditional route, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
